Few players in rugby league command as much respect as Steve Price.
The reason – Price is a leader and a winner.
Price made his first grade debut with the Bulldogs in 1994, playing in the 1995 premiership and appearing in more than 200 first grade games with the club.
He was always destined for higher honours and in 1998 he took the next step, making his State of Origin debut.
Price became a fixture in the Maroons side and his persistence won him a maiden Test jersey in 1998.
He reclaimed his Test spot in 2004 and would have toured with the Kangaroos but for a knee injury – a problem which cost him his place in the Bulldogs grand final victory.
It was a cruel way for Price to end his career at the Bulldogs.
His decision to join the New Zealand Warriors at the end of 2004 was regarded as one of the most significant signings in the Kiwi club’s history.
Price gave the Warriors value for money in 2005, once again playing for Queensland and finally achieving one of his lifelong dreams - touring with the Kangaroos.
He backed that up in 2006 and is in career-best form in 2007, particularly for Queensland.
